BadSum's screen only shows up if the individual plays an pirated copy.
Base game
BadSum's screen can show up if a save file is corrupted or in the Hide-and-Seek ending (although edited).
BadSum is also seen in the now deleted NINENINE secret, after the player accepts the unknown questioner's offer for the 4th question about 99, where the questioner tells them about the character and his potential future. According to the person that we were talking to in the NINENINE secret, "BadSum" is not his name and his appearance is outdated and look different when the player sees him again. He is independent from 99 but he will come face to face with it soon in "Baldi's Basics T".
Trivia

- The track which plays when during the screen and when booting up the Baldi's Basics Plus and Baldi's Basics Classic Remastered, is also called BAD SUM.
